Coming in v3
Alongside the podcast and upgraded transcripts, v3 adds BN Course, Word Test v3, weekly Homework, monthly bonus episodes, and new ways to connect listening, reading, and learning.
The upgraded successor to the former Transcripts subscription, with finer playback and reading controls plus new transcript features.
The plan that unlocks v3’s new learning features. On the annual plan, it costs only ¥40 more per month than BASIC.
We wanted each week’s real bilingual conversation to become more than something you listen to—a connected way to understand, remember, and speak. V3 was shaped by years of feedback from our users.
Michael develops the advanced functionality and learning systems, while Mami carefully creates and curates the courses, Homework, and other learning content.
Monthly Bonus Episode
Each month, Michael and Mami explore English and Japanese idioms through a single theme, unpacking meanings and usage that literal translations can miss. Discover the background, nuance, and differences between expressions in both languages.
Monthly bonus episodes are available to both HYPER users and BN Members.BN Course
An overall placement test and an adaptive vocabulary test measure structure, conjugation, prepositions, vocabulary, and listening. BN Course uses that profile and your saved progress to recommend what to study next.

Transcripts
Follow the transcript as you listen, check expressions you missed, and save useful words directly to a list for later study.
Weekly Homework
Each week’s homework is built from the real, unscripted Japanese-English conversation in that week’s episode. Instead of polished examples, you learn from authentic speech—including restarts, pauses, and each speaker’s natural expressions.
The newest episode’s real conversation becomes that week’s homework—a learning experience unique to the BN app.More features
